Hypothesis

Its value depends on addressing questions relevant to that product. Add fixed, accurate answers and measure purchases, not just FAQ expansions.

How to run this test

Primary metric

Purchase conversion rate (CR)

Compare purchases per assigned visitor with and without the predefined FAQ section.

Other metrics

  • Add-to-cart rateTrack add-to-cart; by itself, this does not show how quickly a decision was made.
  • Support contact rateCompare support contacts per assigned visitor and changes in their reasons.
  • FAQ interaction rateReport answer opens within the variant; the control has no FAQ to open.
  • Return rateTrack returns over the same follow-up period in both arms.

What to check before and during the test

  • ChangeAdd a predefined FAQ section to the product page.
  • Keep constantKeep FAQ content, product details, price and CTA structure unchanged.
  • BehaviorRead FAQ interactions alongside purchase behavior.
  • AccuracyKeep answers current and consistent with the product's actual terms.
  • Separate testsTest placement or FAQ format separately.

Setup mistakes to avoid

  1. 1Keep answers short and the FAQ easy to scan.
  2. 2Include questions specific to the product.
  3. 3Do not turn the FAQ into a sales or campaign message.
  4. 4Keep price, imagery and buttons unchanged during the test.
  5. 5Do not bury the FAQ at the bottom of the page where visitors are unlikely to find it.
