Hypothesis

Explaining benefits first may put the price in context, but delaying it can frustrate visitors. Move the same price block without changing the offer or hiding the total payable before commitment.

How to run this test

Primary metric

Revenue per visitor (RPV)

Compare revenue per assigned visitor to see whether price placement changes results.

Other metrics

  • Average order or plan valueRead purchase value alongside conversion to explain revenue.
  • Purchase conversion rate (CR)Check how the share of visitors who buy changes.
  • Bounce rateMake sure showing price early does not materially increase exits.
  • Lead qualityIf collecting leads, apply the same qualification rule and follow-up period; check whether later price disclosure brings less-qualified leads.

What to check before and during the test

  • OrderCompare showing the same price block before or after the benefits.
  • VisibilityKeep typography, price amount and terms unchanged.
  • Lead qualityCheck whether earlier pricing changes the quality of incoming leads.
  • ClarityUse direct feedback to assess whether visitors perceive the price as hidden; do not infer trust from exits alone.
  • AudienceReview predefined buyer segments instead of segmenting on behavior after the test.

Setup mistakes to avoid

  1. 1Do not use delayed pricing to hide the price until visitors are committed.
  2. 2Do not change price placement and amount together.
  3. 3Do not leave shipping, tax, setup or other parts of the total until later and call the price prominent.
  4. 4Check pricing-display rules in markets where price disclosure is regulated.
  5. 5Do not make currency or tax details smaller while enlarging the price.
